YAY NOVELTY

My name is Sunchea Phou, and I am the founder of YAY NOVELTY as well as a survivor of the Cambodian genocide. In 2001, I returned to Cambodia for the first time since fleeing at the age of seven. Witnessing the struggles of genocide survivors trapped in poverty left a profound impact on me and ignited my mission—my "Why."

After leaving the corporate world, I returned to Cambodia in 2013 and founded YAY NOVELTY in 2014. The "YAY" in YAY NOVELTY signifies WHY and WHY - the purpose of its existence and the essence of its offerings. YAY NOVELTY is dedicated to empowering survivors of the Cambodian genocide by supporting small-scale farmers and artisans, creating market opportunities, and contributing to the healing and rebuilding of lives impacted by the tragedy.
